This is a great grocery store in Steiner Ranch. Here is a story about it in the Statesman about small grocery stores in general that are popping up in Austin. This place has a great deli, meat, and beer/wine selection. The fruits and vegetable section leaves something to be desired, but all around a great place to pick up something on the way home or if the wife wants you to pick up a gallon of milk.

It is not quite the same without him there. we have seen better days when he was there….it’s not wise to run off your better workers. here’s to finding someone like him to serve us. we all wish him luck where ever he went. hE HAD A HUGE FAN BASE BACK HERE IN STEINER

I was a loyal customer until about a week ago. I was in to buy some of the usual things, meat, deli stuff, bread…etc. We got sick from the meat(twice in one week) and the quality of the prepared foods like chicken breasts and pork items have been very sub par. I don’t know whats happened, but the quality of service and product has dropped. I hope management looks at these comments and changes some of there arrogance that is very clear to some of us formerly loyal customers. I speak for quite a few people in the neighborhood

After my first and only 2 experiences, i will have no problem going up the road to HEB. All it took for me was to see trails of ants leading from outside to the inside trash as well as seeing them having lunch on krispy kream donuts. If that’s what I see then i would hate to find out what I can’t see…..what a bunch of SLOBS!!!!! P.S. WORST PRODUCE I HAVE EVER SEEN. I’d buy produce from a street vendor before i eat anything from there.

I was asked by others to comment on my experience at the local store. Don’t buy the filets in the meat area. We have bought them 3 times, the first was just ok but the other two times the seal was loose and the meat smelled like it was rotten. We used to go to HEB, now we will DEFINETLY RETURN TO HEB. At least there we can be assured of quality product. Who ever is in charge really needs to think about how good they are at running a store. You have lost all of our family business. WE WON’T even go in for a simple piece of gum.

When I go to a grocery store, I look for cleanliness. This store is one of the WORST I have seen….especially for where it is at(Steiner Ranch). Dust everywhere, old food from who knows when on the floor. I mention this cuz I saw the same old food item on the floor from one visit to another . It was never picked up not even after i mentioned it and it was 3 days later in the same spot….Never go there again.

We think they have a really good beer selection. We like the deli meats. We do share the concerns on how clean it can be. Produce lacks in appeal, but overall we would give it a 5-6 out of 10.

We just moved in to Steiner Ranch, and we are a bit concerned about the feedback on the market. We have shopped there for the basics like milk, bread, and beverages. It is just ok, we will using HEB for our major purchases like meat and deli meats because we are not quite sure about the quality of those departments. We have seen little care on how clean it is. We also noticed bug trails in there and brought it to the attention of one of the grey haired fellows who works there and have yet to see any improvement in that area. Some dry goods are ok but we don’t trust anything prepared there. HEB is the safe bet we believe for those purchases. Maybe they will clean up a bit…but until then HEB is a place we can at least TRUST.

I am glad to have a local grocery store in our area. So far I have no complaints. I am surprised with the cleanliness comments by others. I have not experienced this at all. The only complaint I have is with customer service. There was an older lady there that was not very nice and a bit rude. I like having a small grocery shop near by, beats going to HEB and waiting in line for just a few items.

Why is it that all the blogs are from complainers, searching to find the worst in everything. The market is clean with a good selection. It is brand new with concrete floors. How dirty could it be? The sandwiches and wraps are very good. It is also very convenient. Better than driving to HEB.

The Market is great. I have never had a bad customer service experiance. Great selection, quality of the meat market and deli is great. My only complaint is the are out of stuff alot. I go there all the time and Patrick is the nicest guy you’ll ever meet.

Iagree that Patrick is the nicest one there….there is not much to say about the rest, but there is a lady there @ the wine tastings who appears to be a tad bit “Snooty” for lack of a better term. Don’t know if she is consumer, or an arrogant family member of the staff or ownership.

We generally go there for quick runs — it is better than driving to HEB. Had one bad experience with meat from the meat counter, but the other times it has been fine. Biggest problem (like one poster said) is that they don’t re-stock very quickly, so you don’t know for sure if they will have what you need.

whatever happend to the rude old lady that used to work the register?????i am soooo glad she is gone ….i called the owner once to tell him what a rude old b….she was he was very nice ..well 2 days later i went to the store she saw me and came to apologize for being a b….ha ha

I love The Market - it’s convenient, the deli food (sandwiches, soups) is great, and the staff is helpful. It always looks clean to me too. I bought sushi there last week, and it was excellent. Two thumbs up!

The Market gets better and better all the time, if you didn’t like it at first go see it now. It is great and will go out of the way to help you get what you want. I have had nothing but positive experiances there.

I was really suprised to see the complaints on the market. I’ve lived in Steiner for 3 years now and think it wonderful that we even have a market to be able to call our own! While I don’t buy meats there, I have gotten several of the prepared dishes and they’ve been great. I still go to my reg places for actual grocery shopping, but when I need somthing in a pinch or need to grab a quick lunch or dinner - it’s been perfect. I’m happy they’re here! Big FAN!

I have been really impressed with the Market lately. We did buy steaks for the first time the other night and they were delicious! A little more pricey than say HEB,but well worth it.

We like the Market…No complaints here

I visit the Market on a weekly basis at least and think it’s great (and I have very high standards). Admittedly I don’t buy prepared food and have never bought meat or Deli stuff there (although I did buy a pre-roasted chicken once which was ok). I like the Boars Head fresh soups for lunch and find it a pleasant place to have a quick bite.

what has happened to The Market? All of the people I know are gone and those that are left do not know what is going on. They were doing so great, I hope they can turn it around.

I have hestitated on posting comments on the blog for many reasons but I thought it time to be more proactive.
I appreciate the input that many people give us at The Market. We continue to try to improve in every area of our business. That is why we now have two very experienced individuals running our Deli and Meat departments.
As with any business, people change jobs, look for other challenges or just move. I know as you get to meet the two gentlemen that now run our Meat Department and Delicatessen you will be impressed by their skills, knowledge of the products and catering.
Please stop by and see Chef Derrick Goerner (with us now for 3 weeks) in our Meat department or John Hammond (with us now for 2 weeks) in our Delicatessen.
This week we launched our first weekly Market TO GO menu email - letting customers know what the new dinner will be each evening in our to go case.
I know many of our regular customers that would be happy to give you a testimonial about our efforts.
Just a quick note - our Boar’s Head prices are the same as HEB’s.
The only way we will be able to continue to improve is if the community supports us enough to sustain that improvement.
Thank you to those that have said and written positive comments about us. Thank you to those that are kind enough to have constructive criticism.

I shop at the Market at least once a week for something that I had forgotten at the grocery store. And, I’ve never had any problems at all. Yeah, I thought the older woman cashier wasn’t very friendly, but I haven’t seen her in months.
I usually call before making a trip to the store just to make sure they have what I need, and they have always been very helpful. I have no complaints at all, and I have never seen the place not clean. My impression is that they’re they’re open to feedback and will add products based on the customer’s needs if they don’t carry something.

I love The Market. I think the customer service is great and the new daytime cashier is very friendly and helpful. whenever I have a question, the owner and co-owner go out of their way to accomodate me. It’s nice to see someone who takes pride in their business. I am so thankful we have a market to call our own.

I really like the Market. It saves a big trip, they have alot of things that I need if I’m stuck in a last minute situation. The deli and the meat section is wonderful, I can’t believe there were complaints! All I can say is the store has obviously changed since 2007! It looks clean to me, I haven’t seen ants or whatnot. The place seems new, I’m assuming it is? I really like the managers and their employees! They are all friendly with bubbly personalities. Thumbs up to The Market.

Thank you so much for your comments. I appreciate them.
We have made some personnel changes over the last several months in order to improve our service. I have been getting very good feedback on John Hammond’s (Catering Manager) and Derrick Goerner’s (Chef) creations and work.
Thanks again.
