Comment Roundup…

October 19th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Since some people do not read all of the comments… I decided to do a comment roundup of the most interesting comments. Here goes everything.

Not many rumors posted but two new ones on this post. One is the possibility of a sushi bar posted by Lindsey(my favorite commenter so far.. she has some good comments on some other threads), Also Mike the owner of Fion, who is more in the know than most people, is saying that there could be another eatery place next to Fion and the possibility of a childcare place and another coffee shop in the empty building by the fountain.

Just read the comments about The Market. I was not a big fan from the couple times I went. You be the judge.

Tutto Gusto has some comments about it also, but from driving past their parking lot, it does not seem to affect them.

Lindsey has another good comment about Delicato that I agree with. She recommends Rise and Shine Bakery over by Riverplace as an alternative… They are the people that have someone out in a costume on 2222 and Riverplace dancing around and asking you to come in. I have never been there, but I do like the Hook ‘Em Tacos place in the parking lot of Jack Brown Cleaners at the corner of 620 and 2222 on the right hand side past Walgreen’s. They have some pretty good tacos.

Lindsey also recommends Ernie Reyes Martial Arts in this comment. Sounds like a good way to get in shape quick.

It saddens me to hear that an establishment, a small business owner (what makes Austin unique!), has the potential of being ousted especially when there is a bar within Lakeside and Tutto Gusto. How do you discriminate against one and not the other? Are folks indicating that they would prefer Steiner, a part of Travis county, be dry? What about the “bar” that will be opened in the UT Golf Club? Just what exactly differentiates between purchasing 6 bottles of wine at The Market and drinking/driving in our community after a neighborhood party vs having a glass or two at Fion, Tutto Gusto, the UT Golf Club or LakeSide? Just curious to know what the defined levels of discrimination are for this discussion.

Furthermore, you have just as much potential of being hit by a soccer mom focusing on her children and not the road, or, better yet, a drunken boater returning to town via Quinlan Park. We have two county parks at the end of this neighborhood along with two boat ramps. These features alone draw far more “non-Steiner” people into this neighborhood.

If this ends with the result of closing Fion then I believe we will be taking our money elsewhere so we can raise our children in a “community” where discrimination is not a guideline within the HOA.

BTW, I have never been to Fion. I am simply outraged by discrimination especially when there is no evidence to support the claim.
