This is more of a warning and a question post. I see in the mornings and sometimes in the afternoon cops waiting for people to go in the “turn” lane to go east/right onto 2222 from 620. They are waiting in the parking lot of the three business I don’t know the names of before the Wells Fargo bank. I am not really sure why they are pulling people over. I guess its because people are lining up in the far right lane too early. I guess it makes more sense to clog the right lane up till we get to Walgreen’s and then follow the lines painted on the road. So if someone knows why they are pulling people over for this then post a comment.
Police at 620 and 2222… beware

I’ve seen them there as well, and I’m with you — looks like they are ticketing people for driving on the shoulder. Problem is there just aren’t enough lanes, and that’s the only real otion at rush hour. My guess is they know people are doing and just using it for easy ticket-writing. I’ve seen plenty of wrecks along 620, in the turn lane, or on 2222, but never on that shoulder area.

I have seen them as well. I thought that cops could not use private property to stop drivers and worst ticket them.

The far right “lane” is not truely a lane to drive in. This is considered a shoulder of the road and only used for purposes of pulling over and not used as a driving lane. This is distinctly marked with a solid white line, this why people are being pulled over for citations for driving in this lane. I noticed this sort of sting at 360 and Mopac area as well, so watch out.

If you notice, the police are positioning themselves at the entrance of the businesses close to the highway. This part of property is the right-of-way portion and is shared by the private owner and the government for road improvements, utilities, etc. That is why they can sit there.
And yes, they are ticketing because people are using the shoulder as a turn lane. They really need to lengthen that turn lane.
