I guess the first question I have before I dive into this post is: Where is River Dance in Steiner Ranch? I looked at the map of Steiner Ranch and could not find it. I am guessing it is somewhere in Belcara. The reason I am asking is that Leander ISD announced that they purchased land in that area to build the third Elementary School in Steiner Ranch.
The Leander ISD Board of Trustees has announced the sites of two additional LISD elementary campuses, slated for a possible fall 2009 opening.
At their Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 meeting, the LISD school board designated District-owned land west of Vista Ridge Blvd. and south of Park Street (near Vista Ridge High School) as the site of one of the two schools. The Board also announced that the District has signed a purchase agreement for land that will be the site of the other possible elementary. That site is in the River Dance Phase 4 section of the Steiner Ranch subdivision.
So about that bond proposal… It passed. That means that the new high school that will serve this area, built on Ribelin Ranch and bought last year, is funded. The LISD put out a website that gave factual information about the school bond. There are some articles here, here, here and here about bond before and after it passed. One of the stories says its the biggest dollar amount school bond package in Central Texas coming in at a whopping 559 million dollars.
One last thing before I post a breakdown of the school bond is one very good website about Leander Schools you might want to check out called Leander Schools First.

That is correct. River Dance is in the Belcar sub-division near the Bella Mar Community Center.

Yes, should be at 2nd entrance to Belcara.
See item 23 in below linking River Dance Phase 4 with street names - El Socorro Lane, El Socorro Cove, Sedona Pass and Azul Cove of River Dance Subdivision Phase 4.

They are building a high school. It’s going up next to 3M on 2222. I believe construction has already started.
There is not enough flat land in Steiner to allow for a high school to be built in the subdivision.

Yes, the new HS is still a couple of years away, though. As for Elementary schools, we actually do need the third one in Steiner (i.e. River Dance). Check the attendance figures for SRE and Laura Bush, and the projections.
