To Jay -

I don't think your fears about Quinlan Park being a cut through for Lakeway people are well founded. Why would a Lakeway resident use QP - it's out of the way? They will either take 71 to 620 or 2222 to 620. Besides, QP is intended to be a through street - 4 lanes divided at 45 MPH speed limit is not a residential road. It is a major road. If you had to work downtown, I think you would feel differently. Try the commute sometime.

There was a planned bridge over Lake Austin in the 80s that was never built that was an extension of Quinlan Park Road which would have conveniently linked in with Bee Caves Road near the new Hill Country Galleria. Any knucklehead knows that access and traffic to Steiner is horrible. A bridge over Lake Austin would be a huge benefit to circulation and drive times. Everyone yelped about the 360 Bridge in the 70s, but it is now our third most distinguished city landmark behind the Capitol and the UT Tower. And - where would we be without 360? More gridlock. I am all for being careful with our environment and preserving the Lake, but we have to have more outlets and reasonable access to Steiner...

I do not want such a bridge because then Quinlan Park will be a major cut-through for Lakeway people. Do you want that? I don't.

I live in RP and it's just a bridge over the creek to a marina (I think?) and 5 new exclusive lots that RP is offering lakeside. I WISH it was another way out! Traffic on 360 has gotten miserable.

I wish there was another way out. Traffic issues through out Austin seem to be partly due all of these housing developments only having one way out. There are same side cities that have a much better road system not just the highway and interstate.

I do see a bridge being built in RP, it's right next to the park at the end of Big View Drive. It looks like itis just to go over the creek that feeds into the lake, but not the lake itself.

There could not be a bridge over Lake Austin without extensive public input, an environmental review, and Corps of Engineers as well as LCRA review and approval.

In addition, such a structure would cost several Million dollars, and would not be feasible without extensive traffic -- not likely in the back end of a subdivision.

Not saying you didn't hear something, but at best would presume wishful thinking.
