BW3’s or Buffalo Wild Wings is coming back to Austin

February 4th, 2008 · 7 Comments

…well really Cedar Park from the looks of this article.

Another 350,000 square feet of construction will be under way in the next 60 days at Endeavor Real Estate Group’s 1890 Ranch retail project in Cedar Park.

On the west side of the project, Gold’s Gym and Bealls already are under construction with openings as early as July. Construction will begin within a month at Carl’s Jr., Chick-fil-a and Buffalo Wild Wings.

On the east side of the project, Academy Sports + Outdoors will begin construction by March 1, and by April, the Hobby Lobby, a Mardel and a Hemispheres also will begin. This will be the first Mardel, a Christian book store, and the first Hemispheres, a furniture store, in the Austin area.

The 1890 Ranch project opened in October. The first phase is anchored by a SuperTarget, a PetSmart, OfficeMax, Circuit City and a 12-screen Cinemark.

When completed, the project will have up to 900,000 square feet of retail space on 90 acres and will rival Lakeline Mall in size.

The thing I don’t get from the article is the fact that it says it will rival Lakeline Mall. Who cares? I do not think it can compete with Lakeline Mall or even if it is trying to. There are now two Super Targets very close to each other on 183. Maybe 5 miles between them. One on 183 and 1431 and the other at 183 and Lakeline Mall Drive. I do like having an Academy somewhat closer to home… although it is still a good 15 mile drive from here. I know I will visit this shopping place more often if only for the BW3’s. It is back in Austin and I for one am happy. I remember all the nights after work and on weekends we used to drink and hang out at BW3’s in downtown on sixth street.

“…and will rival Lakeline Mall in size

I think the article was just using Lakeline Mall as a rough land area comparison for the 1890 Ranch project, not to create some cross-retail rivalry or anything.

There are a bunch of restaurants going into this shopping center. 3 of them are already opened. A burger place, Willy O’s, is excellent. Angus beef burgers, great fries. They even have breakfast. Also, a pizza and sandwich place called Rodino’s is now open. I had an excellent sandwich (a meatball grinder) there the other day. Both places are locally owned and operated. Those places deserve your support!

Now just to start a rivalry, I will venture that there are very few, if any, decent restaurants at Lakeline. :)

Why in the world would I drive that far, in the traffic on 620 and 183, to get to that place?

Why am I responding to Steiner Res comment with a question?

Why am I speaking in questions? Good question! I should have said: That’s too far for me to drive in 620/183 traffic to be interested ;)

Any more info on that BW-3s - err - Buffalo Wild Wings? Was my favorite wing bar in Bloomingtin IN! Now a ‘family freindly’ wing restaurant. Are they following me in life and in geography?
