Lakeside Pizza and Grill: Review 2

April 7th, 2008 · 26 Comments

Since there were a lot of comments on the blog about Lakeside Pizza and Grill the past couple of days. I wanted to put a post up about my most recent experience. We went this past Thursday and arrived at around 7. We wanted to sit outside but the hostess said it would take 40 minutes for them to unchain the tables and chairs. RANT ON If you don’t want to do it then just tell us… you don’t have to lie and say it will take 40 minutes. There are only so many days in Texas where it is shorts weather and you won’t sweat sitting outside with the sun out. RANT OFF

So inside we went, it was loud in the beginning but then we got used to it. We ordered drinks and a pizza and Chicken Marsala. The pizza we ordered was the Shiner/Steiner?? Pizza… I thought it was very good, not that cheesy. As my wife says what do you expect all pizzas are cheesy. The chicken breast in the Chicken Marsala on the other hand was just plain burnt. It was dry inside with no flavor. The french fries and the mashed potatoes were very good. All in all, it was a good experience. I wish we could have sat outside and next time I am only ordering pizza.

There pizza has definetly improved since they first opened. We order a pizza to go atleast twice a week, sometimes more. I have never noticed having too much cheese on my pizza, but like your wife said, all pizzas are cheesy.
I am curious if anybody tried the brunch this weekend and what they thought.

They put in a patio then don’t have it open at 7:00 on a Thursday? I don’t understand the management at that place.

We stick with the pizza, and my son gets a burger and always likes it. Our pizzas have always been pretty good. The buffalo tenders are not bad. Everything else we’ve tried is just average.

Haven’t been there in a while because nothing ever seemed to have much flavor. It’s still better than the Quinlan Park Grill… but that’s not saying much.

Just went this Sunday. The pizza was great as usual. We also had the Stromboli. I really liked it but next time I will not get the chicken. It didn’t have a lot of flavor.

Lakeside, just like any other restaurant, isn’t going to be able to make everyone happy. I wish the kids weren’t loud, and I don’t understand the parents who allow their kids to sit at the bar. However, if I wanted to live in an adults-only community I certainly wouldn’t have chosen Steiner. The real problem is simple logistics: In a perfect Lakeside, the bar would have been built upstairs along with whatever tables they could fit in to make for an adult-friendly atmosphere. The downstairs would be all tables filled with happy families free to make noise and fight to contain their children according to their own belief system. The patio is a waste, and will only be used a few days out of the year unless you enjoy sweat with your pizza. However it does serve as a good overflow area for people waiting to get inside. I have complained to the manager about his lack of attention to his patrons, and ever since he greets me with a smile and a handshake. Pizza should be cheesy. If you don’t like cheese on your pizza quit complaining and ask for less cheese for Pete’s sake. Joe is one of the best bartenders I have ever come across. I have been on both sides of the bar for many years and Joe knows the job. If you haven’t sat down and had a conversation with him you are missing out. The blackened tilapia is the best item on the menu…get it with the old sauce and not that healthy mango junk. You’ll love it. The brunch thing will get worked out…take it easy and let them get the kinks out. If you wanted free food for your bad experience you should have asked. If you feel bad about asking for free food, then the experience wasn’t bad enough to warrant it. If you have complained on here and haven’t spoken to the management or owner about your issue, you need to go back and try again. If that doesn’t work ask Joe to give you an attitude adjustment.

My family loves the pizza and the other things we have tried have always been great…but we usually stick to the pizza b/c it is so good. I guess we like cheese with our pizza. I do wish they had Coke vs. Pepsi…hahaha. A perfect world I suppose.

My only complaint is the pizza is always a little overdone for my taste…other than that we’ve been happy with Lakeside Pizza

Oh Yes, love the amount of cheese on the pizza!

Have to preface this by saying that I am a big fan of Lakeside Pizza, their food has never dissapointed, but then again, I love cheese on everything, thus cheesy pizza is a plus in my book.

My wife and I went to have brunch there today and we were really impressed. Their home fries were really tasty, and I had their steak and eggs scramble that blew me away, while my wife really loved her vegetarian scramble.

We’ll be heading back there soon, in the meantime I’m waiting for them to deliver the pizza we just ordered.

Lakeside Pizza is the God of all pizza? wrong. Don’t get me wrong — it is the best in our area, and I do like it (though I tend to agree with most of the others that they could reduce the cheese — the best pizza places do not use that much cheese, which tends to make it a little soggy). I’ll keep ordering from there, but it’s not up to the level of Saccone’s , Home Slice, Southside, etc.

I noticed since my comment (which was simply an account of what happen and what to expect at Lakeside Pizza) was removed that only comments that are at least minimally promoting Lakeside pizza are shown and allowed on this blog. Which makes this blog as objective as an advertisement for the grill. It’s unfortunate and a dis-service.

    Patrick

post again… I could not find the comment as this software does not save deleted ones. I think I deleted yours because it criticized an employee of LPG if I recall. Again not sure… but that is what I remember.

  • 18 Patrick // Aug 24, 2008 at 7:00 pm

mreddy- Yes it may have to some extent in as far as description goes. If an experience involves an employee (whom I beleive it was the manager/owner?) how do you describe the event without describing the person involved especially when there disposition and appearance was part of the comment. Nevertheless, I do appreciate your quick and honest response.

  • 20 Bill // Oct 28, 2008 at 8:07 am

    And Fion got a 91.

  • 21 Kim // Oct 28, 2008 at 12:11 pm

I am pleased to see that Cups and Cones received a 96.

As far as Lakeside’s 77, I’d like to see the full report and hear what the owner(s) have to say about the inspection and steps being taken to improve their sanitation. That said, my husband and I love their pizza.

Lakeside and Southside are the same pizza recipe and were developed by the same Chef. Southside is the sister restaurant of Lakeside with Lakeside obviously having a more expansive menu and larger dine in.
