Or better yet, visit the local shelter ( http://www.aspca.com ) and adopt a dog. Save a life and help stop the business of puppy making.

I agree. 50,000 dogs and cats are put to sleep IN CENTRAL TEXAS every year.

If no one buys these puppies, they are going to the shelter too…..

But if nobody buys them, perhaps the breeder will think twice before manufacturing even more puppies.

I don’t even own a dog and don’t know the person selling the puppies, but isn’t there a difference between someone breeding their own dogs (and making some money) and someone running a puppy mill? Seems to me that the former, a small operator providing full-bred dogs to those that want them and making some money if far different than a volume breeder “manufacturing” puppies.

I find the comments left on this blog are pretty mean spirited. I believe in adopting but come on people give me a break. This woman’s dog had some puppies, she wants to find good homes for them. To say they will end up at a shelter is making assumptions you know nothing about. Let’s be a little kinder shall we?

I apologize - I’m really not trying to be mean spirited or offend anyone. And I agree, there are way too many nasty comments left on this blog in general, which is a shame because it is a nice resource to have. However, the fact remains (and you can check this on the aspca website) that NATIONALLY, 50% of shelter dogs are put to sleep. Breeders who do not intend to keep the dogs that they breed either sell them or give them away, and this results in less availability for animals that might otherwise potentially be adopted. It is supply and demand, and we are WAY over on supply. This means that we are choosing when and where to bring dogs (and cats and other domestic pets) into the world, and when to take them out. It is time for human beings to start treating other species with at least a small amount of the respect that we have for ourselves.

I definitely see your point Chris. Sorry, I had read some other comments on different sections as well that were harsh. Didn’t mean to take it out on you. I just feel that we need to be careful as a group, because this blog is so easily found if you google steiner ranch, and people could get a bad impression of the people who live here, who I’ve found to be so nice.

Yes, lets remember not to demonize our own neighbors for the sake of high-minded ideals. I agree with thefirst two, but remember, these are tough time for some and she might be trying to make a few extra bucks. I see a lot of pedigreed dogs in this hood…I’m sure they will all get good homes.
