New rash of Car Burglaries

August 8th, 2008 · 2 Comments

From this link.

There has been an increase in the number of night time burglaries of vehicles in the Steiner Ranch area. The majority of them have been unlocked vehicles parked outside and have had items in plain view stolen, such as Ipods and GPS systems. In a few of the cases entry has been gained by breaking a window or the sunroof. In many of the cases wallets and purses have been stolen from the vehicles. It is very important to always lock vehicles and to not keep any items of value inside them.

If anyone has any information on these incidents please contact Detective Paul Salo at (512) 854-4310 or e-mail at paul.salo@co.travis.tx.us

Detective Salo stopped by our house today to follow up (our house was hit last week). He mentioned that they already checked the pawn shops for my GPS and that they were following up ono some leads. It’s nice to know they’re on the case! Also, FYI , last night a family in Steiner accidentally lef their garage door open. They heard a noise around 2:45 at night and went down to find 3 males stealing things from the car and garage. So, be sure to double check your garages at night. Also, be sure to check that nothing has fallen in front of your sensor as this will make your door pop back up and you might not notice.

Just thought I’d let you know…I was at a Christmas Party last night and met onf of the officers from the Sherrif’s Dept. that patrols Steiner. He said that just last week they solved the case of all of the car burglaries that happened over the summer. They’ve charged 15 teens so far and have actually recovered many of the stolen items. I can’gt wait to hear if I will get my GPS back…
