Should have just stayed home this morning

Anyone know what happened? I heard there was an accident near River Place. 620 east was backed up all the way to Quinlan Park Road. We went the other way… through Lakeway and their lights are not timed properly so the backup in that area was pretty bad as well. We left at 8:15 and it took an hour and 10 minutes to get to work near downtown… Come on Lakeway time your lights better…

There was a wreck at River Place and 2222. Silver Mercedes (?) crushed into the light pole by a black pickup. (Looked like a probable fatality, but I really do not know.) 2222 was closed between 620 and RP – we had to do the 3M road and then once we made it to the RP intersection, we had to turn west on 2222 and then u-turn back to RP. (My kids go to school in RP so we HAD to get there at some point.) Took at least 90 minutes for all of that, and that was before traffic was backed down 620 to Steiner. My thoughts go out to the family of the silver Mercedes driver.

Here is the link to a short blurb in the statesman about the accident. The person was critically injured.

After finally getting turned around, I weighed my options and decided that working from home today was the best course of action.

Had I left a few minutes earlier, I might have made it past 2222&RP before the accident happened.

Hope the victims make it through ok.

Ugh. I decided to go the Lakeway raoute as well, which I’ve done before in a similar situation. I had forgotten about their lights until it was too late. Then I finally made it to Mopac, only to find it back up to Barton Skyway from a wreck at 35th Street…. Should have stayed home as well.

I left at about 8:30, and it was still way backed up. There was also an accident at Anderson Mill/620. Fire trucks were blocking the right turn lane onto Anderson Mill, so that was backed up once you got past 2222.

What is it about that intersection that makes it so dangerous and prone to accidents. I am constantly trying to figure out if there are blind spots or if it is just people running red lights…does anyone know???

It scares me to think about a high school near there when the average commuters can’t even make it through unscathed.

We had a rottweiler wander into our yard on Nov.2nd, no tags, and no microchip per the vet. If someone knows who this pretty dog might belong to please tell them to call 291-6388 to identify.
