While we weren’t using the infant room, we had lots of issues with Child Center of Austin in Steiner Ranch. Kids were more sick than usual for daycare, staff seemed unfocused and the staff does not insist on children washing hands after coming inside or after restroom. Would love to hear about in-home daycares as well. I have a 2 yr-old that needs some activities for the summer.

We have a 9 month old that has been going to CCOA since she was 3 months and we could not be happier. We had heard a lot of folks say some not so great things but decided to check them out ourselves. They have a new director as of about the time we started and she talked to us about a lot of things and made us comfortable with our decision to send her there. From the front desk to the teachers we have encountered they have all been great, nice and very helpful. In the end you have to make a choice you are comfortable with, but I would recommend them to anyone that asked.

I agree. My twins go to CCOA and we love it! I’ve seen the infant facilities and they are great. I’ve never heard anything bad in the year and a half we’ve been there and I agree, the new director, Carrie is great. She knows that used to have a bad reputation, so I’d be up fronbt with her about your concerns.

Congrats on the baby. If you are interested in live-in childcare, you should consider getting an au pair! I work for an au pair program, Cultural Care Au Pair. I know of a few families here in Steiner who are happy with their au pairs as they offer a flexible solution to childcare needs. If you (or anyone) would like more information feel free to email me at regan.flaherty@culturalcare.com.

    Good luck!

When we first moved to Steiner about 2 years ago, we enrolled our child at CCOA – it was close and convenient. After the first year, we started doing more research and found Primrose (near the entrance of River Place). We have been very, very happy there. It is an accredited preschool while I believe CCOA is more of a day care.

    Congratulations and good luck.

our son started Primrose 3 weeks ago and we love it. He is in the pre-Toddler class and seems to enjoy it. We also looked at CCOA, but decided to go with a more academic program rather than just day care.

We had a nanny for the first 10 months and it was very convienent. As our son started developing and socializing more, we felt it was time to move him to a more active and social environment. We did not like him being cooped up inside all day long and wanted different experinces for him. The hard part now is drop off, but I hope he gets over it soon.

My nanny is looking for work and I would recommend her. The only catch is she brings her son to work. If thats ok with you, it worked out for us.

    good luck

You should look at a nanny share – this would be sharing a nanny (full-time) but with another family who has a child the same age as yours. The nanny has two kids to take care of (alternate houses each week) and the kids kind of grow up with each other and have a playmate! We did this for both kids. Less illness (vs daycare) and less expensive than hiring a nanny just by yourself.

My name is Carolyn Phelps and I’m moving from Santa Margarita California to Steiner Ranch and I want to provide more one on one child care to children. I have been watching children for 35 years and in some cases I have watched 2 generations of children. I have multiple references that I can give you. I am CPR certified and I’m working on getting my license in Texas. I will charge reasonable rates and will be ready to start taking care of your little ones like they were my own grandchildren by Sept. 14th.

If you’re interested please give me a call to discuss
    Thanks

I am a Steiner Ranch resident and currently have a nanny that I love. However, I want to put my kids in morning pre-school (more socialization) starting late Aug so she will have more hours available, and I want to try and help her find time in Steiner.

Here are the hours she would be available:
    Mon 7:30am-1pm
    Tues all day
    Wed 7:30am-1pm
    Thurs all day
    Friday 7:30am-1pm

If you have any interest, please contact me and I’ll give you more information to see if you want to pursue anything. She does a great job with my two kids (4 year old and 2 year old) and I’m very happy.
    Experienced, especially with infants/babies
Has own transportation, valid driver’s license and clean driving record
    Bilingual
    Helps with light housekeeping
    Mature and professional (late 20’s)
    Loads of patience

I enrolled my four year old son at the childrens center at the beginning of August. Their Pre-K program is so impressive! Mrs. Stephanie in the Polar Bears is a certified teacher, incredibly professional, and there is no where else I feel he would get the social, educational, and love that he does at ccoa.

    Casey,
I also have four kids that are 1-6 y.o and we have them in the CCOA except for our oldest who graduated from there but now goes to the CCOA. My husband and I have been so happy there and our kids love to go to school. We couldn’t be more pleased.

My daughters go to the CCOA and couldn’t be happier with the program there! My girls have learned so much and are so well socialized now because they are at the CCOA. They love to go to school every morning and complain when I pick them up before 4:30!

We really enjoy Primrose. Our son started at 10 months and is now 16 months. He has learned so much already. His vocabulary is extensive, we no longer can keep up with all his words. We love that they have music aand art everyday, circle time, flash cards, sign language, outside play. He loves to dance and has even started to sing. He brings home the cutest art projects each day and is learning sign language. He already knows parts of his body, colors, aminal noises (what does the monkey say…cow say, etc..), and how to “clean up” which he loves to do right now. (vaccum, sweep, throw things in the garbage, etc…) My youngest (3 months) will be starting at primrose in 3 weeks. We also looked at Montessori and CCOA. We decided against CCOA at the time, because he was a little more advanced at 10 months to be kept in the Infant room – CCOA won’t move them up until they are walking, and without a bottle. Primrose took him with a bottle and walking at 10 months. he isnt old enough for the Montessori, but we toured it and are not 100% sold on it yet. So far we have no reason to take him out of Primrose. Good Luck!

We have a 5 month old daughter and 3 year old son. They are currently attending a daycare, but we have chosen to keep them at home instead and are looking for a live-in/live-out nanny or someone that is interested in a Nanny share situation in Steiner Ranch. As of now, we are only looking for M-TH, as I stay home with them on Fridays, but this could potentially go to a full week in the future.

I am looking for a responsible, loving, and reliable stay at home mom in Steiner who would like to make extra income caring for a 2.5 mo baby boy. I need care to start after Jan. 4th and need care from 7:00-5:00 pm.

Or, if you have a nanny and are interested in cuting costs via a nanny share, please email me.

    Thanks!!
