WOW! That's amazing. As a consumer and an employee with DISH we have TV everywhere, I do have it my self so I'll try to tell you what it's all about. So of course you will need DISH services, and a receiver. You will need the 722 or 722k that is a HD receiver that goes to 2 rooms (one room HD, the other SD). First receiver you will get free (no monthly charges) then you need the Sling adapter low cost of $99.00(you will need internet service for TV everywhere, which we can bundle with some companies). You hook up your Sling adapter to the 722 and you get TV every where off your IPhone, laptop, Android phone and it's live! You don't need to stay in your home for this and the 722 is a DVR! You can control the DVR off your phone as well and there is not monthly cost for TV everywhere.

Chris, are you sure DirectTV will have TIVO? i had to get rid of TIVO when DirecTV launched their HD DVR. They no longer use TIVO. I miss it so sad, but will be so happy if they bring it back later this year?

Time Warner Austin sucks big time. I called to make an ISP change from Earthlink to Roadrunner (both are available through TWC lines).

No problem, switch done. I get my bill and they switched me from the same cable plan I had been on for 7 years to one more expensive overall.

I called them up and got some BS about my account must have been grandfathered in and the change to my internet triggered my cable to be updated.

WTF???

Should you at least have told me when I asked to switch ISPs that it would jack up my cable rates?

And of course there was no way for them to switch me back. The supervisor could have cared less.

I canceled all my premium channels ($420/year loss to TWC) and as soon as DirecTV comes out with their new Tivo box later on this year/early 2010, I'm dumping Time Warner Cable (I love my Tivo, so much better than standard DVRs).

I'll still be stuck with them as an ISP though. =(

Hint: when you use TWC as your ISP, you can choose between AOL, RoadRunner and Earthlink. They are all the same service, be sure to choose Earthlink as TWC makes the least amount of money on Earthlink accounts (they own RoadRunner and AOHell, but not Earthlink, so Earthlink just pays them a few $ a month to use their cable lines).

I have U-Verse (in a newer subdivision), and while the customer service is pretty poor and installation didn't go so well, the cable and internet service are pretty great once they're in. The picture is amazing, and the DVR can record 4 shows at a time (up to 2 of them in HD). Oh, and they don't get into pissing contests with networks and cut off your NBC for weeks at a time! Sure, there's still the occasional outage and I never got my promised cash back, but overall I've been pretty pleased.

As for canceling Time Warner, I had a similar experience where the lady just seemed to think I'd be back soon enough...made zero effort to retain me other than to ask if I'd already signed a contract elsewhere. Very odd.

Use Jiffy Lube? They're dumping your used motor oil into your drinking water. "Although Heartland pleaded guilty to illegal discharges in 2006 and 2007, Gray said former employees told investigators they had been pumping oil down the drain since about 2002."

Heartland Automotive owns 31 Jiffy Lubes in Austin, and 400 nationwide. This isn't the first time they've been fined for dumping oil into our water system.

The above links show how people are responding to Time Warner in New York state. The House rep in the first link, Eric Massa, is drafting legislation to ban per gig rates.

Because of such limited choices, we can't easily switch providers. Time Warner wants to find out if we'll roll over and pay more, or if we'll fight it. Now is a great time to encourage our house rep (Lamar Smith - http://lamarsmith.house.gov/) to work with Massa on this bill. He's there to protect his constituents, not corporations.

We got fed up with Time Warner's pricing/poor service and attitude and we switched to Direct TV Satellite. It's been 4 months now and we are VERY satisfied with the service. Can you believe that when we called to cancel, my husband said, "aren't you going to even TRY to keep me as a customer?" and the customer service person replied, "No, You'll be back. Everyone comes back." Wow! talk about attitude!

I hate, hate, hate Time Warner. Aside from being expensive, their service is horrible, and their customer service is even worse. The only reason we have Road Runner is because my husband's company pays for it. And even though it's free for us, I've considered actually paying to use a different service. I hope this convinces his company to switch to someone else.

I'd sign up for Uverse if it came to Headlands... but I saw that ATT is also toying with ways to meter Internet consumption. It is just a matter of time...
