AT&T U-Verse Van in Rio Mesa

June 24th, 2009 · 14 Comments

I have seen it four or five times now always in the same spot near the entrance at Country Trails and Quinlan Park. I know U-Verse is in Bella Mar and the newer parts of Steiner, is Rio Mesa next?

Good sighting… I’d love to see it come to The Headlands.

Yes they have opened it to Rio Mesa. Any body know how the service is? It is more than Time Warner Cable and it is also a digital phone line.

Actually, don’t get U-Verse service yet. We have been using U-Verse internet and cable since March 2009. It has been down 4 times. Yesterday, it was donw for 8-10 hours and this morning for 4-5 hours. We are thinking to change the carrier. It is terrible!

An AT&T rep came by our home in Savannah today and signed us up for U-Verse… some good incentives and it sounds like an overall better deal than TWC.

We’ve had it for about a year, and while the reliability isn’t great, it’s a fantastic service. The picture is great, internet service is fast, and they just finally upgraded the service to be an almost truly total home DVR. You can record shows on the one DVR (about 120 hrs. capacity) then watch them in any room (incl. play, pause, rewind, etc.). And while you technically can’t pause/rewind live TV from anywhere other than the main box, with the new upgrade you can just hit record from any box, then you can pause, rewind, etc. Very, very cool (plus you only pay for one DVR and can watch from any room in the house).

Brent – I live in Savannah and I just went on the website and it says service is not available. Do you have the sales guys number? Maybe they have not updated the site yet.

I know several people that have it, and it is basically DSL on steroids. The packages are generally more expensive than Time Warner (Feature comparative). The posting by U-Verse Customer sounds spot-on.

I just signed up for u-verse. I moved to monterone in May and they didn’t have it. I had it for over a year at my previous address. I had absolutely no problems and loved it. I am glad I can get it again.

About a month ago an ATT guy was fooling with the box out by the street next to my house. He said they were prepping to get Uverse out here, but we’ve checked several times online and it still says no service available. What’s the delay? (we are in Hancock Hill). We are DYING to ditch Time Warner. They are the worst cable service we have EVER had. OnDemand almost NEVER works, and when it does it is EXTREMELY slow. Their user interface on the TV is pathetic, and for what we are paying for service, we’re very disappointed. Comcast was much better (in Nashville) I wish they had it out here!

I’ve been checking ever since I read about them on digitalandbroadband, but it seems that U-Verse isn’t here yet, either (I’m not too far from from where they are working right now, tho, so I think it’s just a matter of time!) Can’t wait!

I ordered U-Verse knowing that they do not allow you to watch high definition on more than one TV at once unless they specifically set you up for it (a friend told me). Some cities and areas in Austin allow you to, but since the service is new in Steiner I am guessing that they don’t have the bandwidth yet to do it. I told the sales person if that was the case I did not want it now and would wait until they rolled that service out. She said that they could probably set me up to allow it but would need to send the installer out. The installer arrived and said another team would need to come out and “prep the line” first before they could set me up for that and he would call me back….I never heard back from him, called him twice and left voicemails, and still no response. The only reason that I mention this is that there was nothing that said you could not watch HD on more than one TV at once and the sales people do not mention it either.
