Hadn’t heard of this till the article in the statesman about it. Not that I run that much (if at all… I am more of a walker) but if she elbowed me I would run after her. It is a sad thing that we have people like that living in Steiner.

The Blood Center of Central Texas is joining several other blood centers in using a new blood bag for whole blood collection. These new collection bags are slightly larger than what is currently used and will require a small increase (approximately 3 tablespoons) in the amount of blood collected from whole blood donors. Due to this small increase, The Blood Center will require all whole blood donors to weigh a minimum of 123 lbs beginning January 12, 2010.

Bake Sale to benefit Red Cross relief in Haiti

A friend and her neighbors (in Steiner) are organizing a bake sale to benefit the Red Cross relief in Haiti.

If baking is your thing, you can donate goods or you can attend the bake sale to purchase donated items.
Baked goods will be accepted this Friday > 4:00 pm. or Saturday a.m.
The bake sale will take place this Saturday (1/30) from 10:00 until about noon at the Town Square Park.

Safety Pointers for Steiner Residents

There have been some recent incidents reported in the neighborhood involving attempted abductions (of women while running) and casing of homes. Deputy Derrick Taylor of the Travis County Sheriff’s Community Outreach Department has agreed to make a presentation as to what has truly occurred and safety pointers for Steiner residents. Here is additional information:

Cho Sushi Review

Cho Sushi opened up and me, the wife, and the 9.5 month old decided to check it out. We went during the happy hour and had the excellent garlic edamame. It was some of the best edamame that we have ever had. We then went to the sushi and had a couple of the happy hour rolls which were good and had an excellent Texas Roll as well. We are going to try the Steiner Ranch and Bentley Roll next time. Has anyone tried the entrees? Post in the comments what you think of the place.

Randalls coming to Steiner Ranch

That is the rumor going around. It would be the south-east corner of Quinlan and 620. I heard they are surveying some residents about what they think. If someone has their email or contact I can tell them about this blog and see if they can see comments here.

My take… the convenience is nice, but I like HEB… unless they do an upscale Randall’s that is like a Central Market it will just be average instead of outstanding. I feel bad for Steiner Ranch Steakhouse, they get a view of the Randall’s parking lot now.

Interesting thread here where I got another hint of the rumor.
