Apartments coming to Ribelin Ranch

Ribelin Ranch is going to be completely different in a year, people will actually be living there and soon after going to school there. That is the site of a new high school where presumably kids from Steiner Ranch, Riverplace, and Grandview Hills will go to. It will also house a middle school where kids from Riverplace and Grandview Hills, etc will go to school making Canyon Ridge Middle School a Steiner Ranch school only? More details about the start dates of the high school and middle school here.

There is a dearth of information about Ribelin Ranch, so I saw this article and had to put something up about it. We do know there will be residential and retail, but not sure which kind… except for now.

A new apartment project will bring 350 units to the FM 2222 corridor near Four Points.

GE Real Estate and Trammell Crow Residential have partnered on The Alexan Ribelin, a Class A apartment community that will be part of the Ribelin Ranch development. That master-planned project will include residential, office and retail space as well as a new middle school and high school. The first Alexan units are scheduled for delivery in November 2008.

The dark purple area below is where the school will go I assume. The apartments might be closer to 2222.

So now we know, I am worried about traffic in this area now. 2222 is not that bad yet traffic wise yet, but with Ladera Bend, Ribelin Ranch coming up I expect it to get worse. Here is a page about the ideas TX-Dot has for 2222. We will see when/if these get implemented.

Four Points Centre

There is ongoing development at Four Points. Right now there is a complex with HEB and a Target next door. In the future there will be 2 office buildings and an hotel which are being built right now. Then eventually 125,000 Sq ft of lifestyle retail, whatever that means. Hopefully something like Arboretum with some fountains and a nice view of the greenbelt. The other cool thing about this office park is the fact that is being built with LEED in mind or in other words with energy efficient properties.

Taco Cabana next to Taco Bell at Four Points

I am a frequent Taco Bell eater (also known affectionately as Toxic Hell), and I always saw the blank space next to the McDonald’s on the corner of Four Points Drive and 620. I saw them clearing the land recently and always wondered why that tract of land was never built along with the Lamb’s Tire and Automotive, Taco Bell, and McDonalds. Now it makes sense after reading this article, Scholtzskys owned the land for a long time and sold it to Taco Cabana in the end of 2005 and Taco Cabana will open a store probably by the end of the year looking at what stage it is right now.

The thing I don’t understand is that why would you have two Mexican fast food joints within walking distance of each other. I am all in favor of retail, but this does not make much sense.
