HEB Feast of Sharing

The Feast of Sharing event, organized by H-E-B, brings together volunteers from all walks of life to serve a festive meal to thousands of individuals and families in need. H-E-B’s Mobile Kitchens will host two Texas-style meal dinners- one in November and another in December. The dinner events with include music, activities for the family, and a variety of free health and wellness screenings and flu shots.

Meals on Wheels Central Texas is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the Austin community since 1972. Their mission is to nourish and enrich the lives of homebound individuals by providing hot, nutritious meals, personal contact, and related services. With the help of compassionate volunteers Meals on Wheels Central Texas is able to support this growing number of older adults through programs that improve their health and quality of life.

Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot

It’s that time again for the 33rd Annual Turkey Trot at The Long Center on Thursday, November 23, 2023! Give back this Thanksgiving Day by signing up to participate in the Trot or by signing up to volunteer! This 5-mile run has grown to be the largest in Texas as families and friends come out to support a fantastic organization. All the proceeds of the race will go straight to Caritas of Austin, “a non-profit that works to prevent and end homelessness in the Austin community.”

During the holiday season, the spirit of giving and togetherness shines brightly at Caritas of Austin. As a holiday volunteer, you will have the opportunity to engage in various activities, such as serving warm meals, organizing festive and volunteering at events such as the Thundercloud Turkey Trot, assisting with donation drives, and spreading cheer to those we serve.

Operation Turkey is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization committed to providing Thanksgiving meals to individuals and families who may not otherwise have the means to celebrate this cherished holiday. Since its inception, Operation Turkey has been delivering smiles and gratitude by distributing complete Thanksgiving meals, including turkey, stuffing, vegetables, and dessert, to those experiencing homelessness, poverty, or isolation. Volunteers can do everything from prepare, package, and deliver warm meals to care packages, and clothing donations to those in need from 8am – 12pm Thanksgiving Day.

Since its founding, Mobile Loaves & Fishes has been on a mission to serve the homeless and vulnerable by providing food, clothing, hygiene products, and housing solutions. As a volunteer with Mobile Loaves & Fishes in Austin, you have the opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of our neighbors in need.
