Did you know that Leander ISD has something called “Clothes Closet”? It is a service program designed specifically for the families of LISD. The purpose of the Clothes Closet is to provide gently used, clean, school clothing as well as brand new underwear and socks to the students in our district who might need them. The clothes are donated by businesses, individuals and families in our community. They are sorted by gender and size and hung in our facility. Families can come and shop for clothes free of charge for their LISD students ages 4 through 18 (pre-K through high school).
The Clothes Closet is located in a portable building at 324 S. West Drive in Leander. It is across from the LISD Technology Center, just north of Leander Middle School. It is operated and staffed by friendly and helpful LISD PTA volunteers.
During the school year, the Clothes Closet is open every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and the one Saturday of each month, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. It is closed on school holidays and bad weather days.
Each student may receive 5 tops, 5 bottoms, 5 new pairs of underwear and 5 new pairs of socks per semester. Per school year, each student may receive 2 sweatshirts or sweaters, 1 coat and 1 jacket.
To shop … a parent will need first to obtain a voucher from Canyon Ridge school nurse . You may stop by the clinic to request and receive your voucher, or you may call Shannon Lindsay directly at 512-570-3507 .
