April 18, 2015 was the day of the big hail storm here in Steiner Ranch. Many residents have already gotten new roofs. What surprises me he how many people I talk to who haven’t even had their roof looked at. Most insurance companies expect the claim to be reported within the first year of the hail storm, which gives you only about 2 months to report the claim if needed. My insurance agent recommends that you have it looked at by a roofer before calling your insurance company. If you make a claim and it is denied, your future premiums could still be affected. I highly recommend Eddie Willis with Bird Creek Roofing (512) 710-7663. They do a free inspection and coordinate with your insurance company if a new roof is needed. Many people are finding out they need more than a new roof – gutters, decks, and fences can all be included in the claim if damaged.

Also, if you plan to sell your home, I highly recommend having it looked at BEFORE listing. These things take time and can not usually be wrapped up during a short option period if a home inspector finds hail damage.
