WCID #17 To Install New AMI Water Meters
In an effort to cut costs, save water, and provide a better consumer experience, WCID #17 will start switching out individual water meters to newer meters that use AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure).
The new metering will allow Travis Co. WCID No.17 to reduce the labor cost associated with reading the meters and the additional meter data will enable customers to view their water usage in real time online, and leak alerts (via detection of abnormal water usage) will happen very quickly. Often times homeowners don’t even know they have a leak until they get their bill, or even several bills. With this new technology, depending on the type of alerts set up by the homeowner, it’s possible to know right after the leak starts.
WCID #17 will be sending letters notifying customers of the switch and will then receive a door hanger approximately 10 days in advance of installation. I had mine installed recently – it only took a few minutes and there were no issues at all.
More Information will be available on the WCID #17 Website soon.
