Steiner Ranch Fires

September 5th, 2011 · 2 Comments

Sorry for the lack of updates on the fires – I am evacuated as well with limited information.  Most of my information is coming from Facebook, text messages, and the Steiner Ranch Social Committee Facebook page.  I have heard that klbjam.com is the best source for continuing updates.  There are a lot of rumors circulating and I’d love any credible information you have concerning neighborhoods other than Canyon Glen that have burned.

Golf Carts in Steiner Ranch

September 2nd, 2011 · 2 Comments

I’ve had a few people ask me about the rules regarding golf carts in Steiner Ranch.  I see a lot more down by the lake (not technically Steiner), but see them from time to time cruising down the sidewalks on Quinlan Park or up near the shops.  There’s nothing on the HOA website.  Does anyone know the rules about driving these in the neighborhood?

Steiner Ranch Cycling

September 1st, 2011 · No Comments

Steiner Ranch Cycling is a loosely organized group of cyclist (road, mountain, or other) who enjoy rides between the lakes.

They welcome cyclists of all abilities and not just those who live in Steiner Ranch.  Most of their rides start and finish in the Steiner Ranch area, allowing them to tackle some of the more challenging climbs in the hills of Austin, TX.  Their rides are typically “no drop” especially for new riders and average anywhere from 15 to 45 miles in distance.  There are no costs or club fees, just your desire to have fun riding with your neighbors.

We organize our rides through email whenever someone feels like going for a ride: ex. “Saturday morning 8 am ride, anyone?” or “Anyone up for a mountain bike ride after work, 7pm?”.

River Ridge Traffic Problems – Fox News

August 31st, 2011 · 2 Comments

Apparently the traffic problems around River Ridge Elementary made Fox News last night:

Some neighbors in who live near River Ridge Elementary School in West Austin are dealing with some traffic woes.

Bumper to bumper traffic around 2:30 p.m. is blocking their driveways and crowding their streets.

Leander ISD and Travis County officials changed the traffic flow this year due to safety issues.

Parents would normally park on Quinlan Park Road but since that’s a main road through the community officials said it would be difficult for emergency responders to get through.

This school year officials moved traffic into the Tierra Grande Trail neighborhood.

There will be a meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday (tonight) at River Ridge Elementary School to talk about the traffic woes.

More information about the group organizing this meeting can be found here.
